Flagler County Dining and shopping

May 17, 202611 min read

Flagler County's dining and shopping scene has grown dramatically over the past several years — and it is still growing. What was once a limited local landscape has evolved into a genuinely varied mix of independent restaurants, nationally recognized dining brands, specialty shops, and retail destinations that serve a community of more than 110,000 people and counting. Whether you are craving oceanfront seafood in Flagler Beach, a Portuguese feast in Palm Harbor Village, or the kind of affordable, home-run night out that the whole family can enjoy, Flagler County has it covered.

Denise Fernandes put together this guide to help residents and newcomers navigate the best of what the county has to offer — from the two exciting new arrivals she personally visited on Highway 100 to the long-established local favorites that have earned their loyal followings over years of consistently great food and genuine community character. This is the complete local's guide to dining and shopping in Flagler County.

Dining

01 Miller's Ale House

New in Palm Coast — Great Food, 60+ TVs & a Lively Night Out for Everyone

Palm Coast finally has the sports bar it has always deserved. Miller's Ale House — voted Best Sports Bar in America by USA Today — opened its brand-new Palm Coast location on Highway 100, and the community has embraced it immediately. The building itself is impressive: a wide, warmly lit dining and entertainment space with 60-plus flat-screen TVs positioned so that there genuinely is no bad seat in the house, whether you are at the bar, in a booth, or out on the open-air patio. For football Sundays, UFC events, NBA playoff nights, and any other occasion that calls for a great meal in front of a great game, Miller's Ale House is now the clear first choice in Flagler County.

The menu is built for real appetites. Their signature Zingers — hand-breaded chicken tenders tossed in a range of bold, house-made sauces — have already developed a devoted local following, and the broader menu of burgers, ribs, seafood, pasta, salads, and grilled steaks ensures that every table can find something worth ordering. Daily specials including domestic drafts under five dollars and entrees from under ten dollars make the value proposition genuinely hard to beat. Miller's is also open until midnight Sunday through Thursday and 1:00 AM on weekends, finally giving Palm Coast a great late-night dining option. With ample parking right out front and a welcoming atmosphere for families and groups alike, it earns its place near the top of any Palm Coast dining list.

02 Portugal Wine Bar & Grill

Ranked #1 Restaurant in Palm Coast — Authentic Portuguese Cuisine at Its Finest

If there is one restaurant in Flagler County that consistently earns the designation of a must-visit, it is Portugal Wine Bar & Grill. Ranked number one on TripAdvisor out of all restaurants in Palm Coast — with a 4.7-star rating across more than 700 reviews — this family-owned Portuguese restaurant in Palm Harbor Village delivers an experience that punches well above the weight of its surroundings. The interior is warm and full of character: azulejo-inspired tile wall panels, the flags of Portugal and the USA hanging side by side, dark linens, and a curated wine wall lined with bottles from across Portugal. It feels like a restaurant you would find on a cobblestone street in Lisbon — and yet here it is, a short drive from your Palm Coast neighborhood.

The menu is a genuine tour through Portuguese culinary tradition. The chorizo, flambéed tableside in brandy with a theatrical burst of flame, is the signature dish and the one that first-time visitors talk about for weeks afterward. Beyond the chorizo, the kitchen turns out grilled octopus, lamb shank, veal ossobuco, salmon piccata, seafood mariscada, and a Portuguese-style paella loaded with lobster, scallops, calamari, shrimp, and clams. The wine list is a carefully curated selection of Portuguese varietals — including vinho verde by the glass — chosen to complement the food at every price point. Reservations are strongly recommended on weekends. This is the restaurant you bring people to when you want them to understand why Flagler County is special.

03 Funky Pelican

Flagler Beach's Iconic Oceanfront Bar & Grill — Seafood, Sunsets & Salt Air

Funky Pelican is one of those restaurants that defines a place. Sitting right on the beach at the Flagler Beach Pier on A1A, it has been a community gathering point for years — serving fresh seafood, cold drinks, and views of the Atlantic Ocean that make every meal feel like a small vacation. The restaurant operates on both an indoor dining room and a sweeping back deck that extends over the sand, close enough to the water that you can hear the waves break while you eat. Both the inside and outside seating fill up fast on weekends and during Flagler Beach's growing season, and for good reason.

The menu leans hard into fresh coastal cooking: the mahi reuben has become something of a local institution, and the mojo fries, hot honey shrimp, and mahi tacos are consistently among the most reordered dishes on the table. Breakfast is served from opening — the crab cake benny and pesto funk omelet draw an early crowd — and the daily-changing specials keep regulars engaged visit after visit. Funky Hour runs every afternoon from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with deals on drinks and select appetizers. The restaurant extended its lease with the City of Flagler Beach through 2057, which tells you everything you need to know about its standing in the community. If you have not been, go soon. If you have been, you already know.

04 Cantina Louie

Mexican Street Food, Handcrafted Margaritas & Pure Palm Coast Energy

Cantina Louie has become one of Palm Coast's most reliably enjoyable dining experiences, and it earns that reputation through consistent quality and a genuinely fun atmosphere that suits everyone from families with young kids to groups of friends looking for a great Happy Hour. Located in Palm Harbor Village, the restaurant serves Mexican street-style food with a creative edge: a la carte tacos in a range of proteins and preparations, quesabirria tacos with consommé for dipping, specialty burritos, fresh salads, nachos, and a kids' menu that keeps the younger crowd happy while the adults focus on the margarita program.

And what a margarita program it is. Cantina Louie's handcrafted margaritas — available in eight-plus flavor combinations including mango, strawberry, raspberry, peach, and pomegranate — have developed their own fan following among Palm Coast residents. The Margarita Louie and the seasonal specialty cocktails are a particular draw during Happy Hour, which runs daily from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and is one of the best daily deals in the county. The spacious indoor and outdoor seating, the lively but not overwhelming atmosphere, and the loyalty program (Louie's Loyalty Card) round out a dining experience that keeps people coming back week after week. Founded in 2014, Cantina Louie now has ten locations across Florida and North Carolina — but the Palm Coast location remains a community anchor.

05 BJ's Wholesale Club

New in Palm Coast — Warehouse Value, Bulk Savings & a Members-Only Gas Station

BJ's Wholesale Club is one of the most anticipated new arrivals on Palm Coast's retail landscape in recent years, and Denise was front and center to welcome it. The brand-new location on Highway 100, just off I-95, brings warehouse-club shopping to Flagler County for the first time — eliminating the need for residents to drive to Daytona or St. Augustine to access the savings that bulk buying provides. The sprawling, well-organized floor plan covers groceries, fresh produce, frozen foods, electronics, home goods, clothing, baby supplies, furniture, tires, and seasonal items, all at the price-per-unit savings that BJ's membership delivers.

The attached gas station is one of the most practical benefits of membership — members consistently save 10 to 20 cents per gallon compared to nearby stations, and those savings alone can offset the annual membership cost for regular drivers within a few months. Curbside pickup, available same-day when ordered online, adds a layer of convenience that makes BJ's competitive with the best grocery delivery services. For families who cook at home, stock up on household essentials, or simply want to shop more efficiently, BJ's Wholesale Club on Highway 100 is a genuine and meaningful addition to the Palm Coast retail landscape.

06 Palm Coast Landing at Town Center

Flagler County's Premier Retail Hub — 37 Stores on the Highway 100 Corridor

For everyday retail in Palm Coast, Palm Coast Landing at Town Center is the anchor around which everything else organizes. Located at the prime intersection of Highway 100 and Belle Terre Parkway — the commercial heart of the city — this open-air shopping center brings together 37 stores in a walkable, shaded, and well-maintained outdoor environment that draws shoppers from throughout the county. The anchor tenants tell the story: TJ Maxx, Ross Dress for Less, ULTA Beauty, Michaels, and PetSmart cover fashion, home décor, beauty, crafts, and pet supplies — a lineup that effectively handles the majority of any household's recurring shopping needs in a single visit.

Beyond the anchors, the center includes Kay Jewelers, Famous Footwear, GameStop, Sally Beauty, Dollar Tree, AT&T, Tropical Smoothie Café, and a rotating cast of service and dining tenants that fill out the experience. For new residents setting up a household in Palm Coast, Palm Coast Landing is typically one of the first places they go — and it remains a weekly or biweekly stop for thousands of established residents throughout the year. The ample surface parking, the convenient layout, and the consistent occupancy of quality tenants make this the most complete retail destination in Flagler County. It sits just minutes from BJ's, Target, and Miller's Ale House, making the Highway 100 corridor a true one-stop destination for shopping, dining, and bulk stocking all in a single trip.

07 Bealls

A Florida Shopping Institution — Fashion, Home Goods & Coastal Living

Bealls has been a fixture of Florida retail for generations, and the Palm Coast location on Old Kings Road continues to earn the loyalty of residents who value a well-organized, fairly priced, and genuinely Florida-relevant shopping experience. The store carries an impressively wide range across a single floor: men's, women's, and children's clothing; shoes and accessories; home goods, kitchen and bath items, décor, and furniture accents through the expanded Home Centric section; seasonal Florida-centric merchandise; and pet supplies. The pricing is consistently competitive, the clearance aisles offer real discoveries at meaningful discounts, and the store's overall feel is clean, calm, and staffed by people who are genuinely helpful.

The Bealls Rewards program is one of the more valuable loyalty programs in local retail, offering special discount days, exclusive digital coupons, and cashback on purchases that add up meaningfully over the course of a year. The store's Monday and Tuesday discount events are particularly popular with the county's large retiree population. For new residents moving to Palm Coast who need to stock a home, refresh a wardrobe, or simply find a reliable local alternative to the big-box retail experience — Bealls on Old Kings Road delivers consistently and without fuss. It is the kind of dependable, Florida-appropriate shopping destination that a growing community like Flagler County is genuinely fortunate to have.
